Suggestions for Preparing Your Testimony

Testimonies are sometimes known as personal stories. They are called that because your story of how you came to invite Jesus into your life is one you own and that is unique to your experiences. God can use your story in ways you may never have imagined.

For example, people often visit websites searching for answers to questions they have about their lives. When your story is read, it may help someone that you’ve never met want to pursue the claims of Christ.

Before you begin to write your testimony, please pray about it first. Then as you start to write it, allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts. Your testimony will be complete when you follow this outline:

  • First, talk about your life before you met Christ. If there were barriers that kept you from seeing your need for Him, describe them.
  • Second, describe the event, situation or the people God used to bring you to Christ. Recount what happened to you.
  • Third, talk about your life since you accepted Christ, how you’ve been growing spiritually and how God has been using you to impact His world. In this part of your story, you may also want to discuss why the decision you made to follow Jesus remains the most important decision of your life.
  • Please refrain from writing about your photography or your interest in it. Proof your spelling and otherwise edit your writing to make your story as clear as possible. Try to organize your thoughts in sequence and reorder different paragraphs as needed. Then submit the final version.

Finally, we reserve the right to edit testimonies prior to posting them.

Sincerely,
